About

Hi!  I’m Joy Voltenburg and I love to quilt!  I’ve been quilting since just after the turn of the century.  Doesn’t that make me sound ancient!  I live in central Illinois and started quilting on a Singer 401A in 2002 and updated to a Babylock Decorators Choice a few years later (love that automatic threader).

From the very first quilt top, I quilted them on my home sewing machine until March, 2010, when I purchased my Voyager 17 and Hinterberg Stretch frame.  I sold my Voyager and bought an A1 longarm quilting machine and frame while at the Paducah Quilt Show in June, 2012 where one of my quilts was displayed (Sunflower Stars was quilted in December 2010 on the Voyager).  I currently have my 12′ frame set up in what used to be our living room.

Since that first quilt at Paducah, I’ve had 2 other personal quilts and one client quilt accepted at Paducah. I’ve won several ribbons in regional shows and been juried into several national shows. What an awesome feeling! I concentrate mostly on customer quilts now; but, do have a few of my own projects I try to find time to work on at any given time.

Follow me along my journey as a longarm quilter and the great changes it has brought to my life as well as the new friends I’ve made along the way.

  1. Hi my name is Helen and I live in Champaign, Illinois!! Since I have lost my long arm quilter due to a recent move, I have been looking for someone to replace her. Your work is outstanding!! I am now working on the borders of a queen size quilt. After I finished my quilt, I would like to meet with you.
